cross section Green roofs? I read about this in a magazine (one I don't happen to like  anymore. They're playing musical editors, and can't seem to stick to one  manner of reporting, so once the subscription is over, seeya! What a  shame too, I did like the original format and writing). Green roofs seem to  be popping up in spots in the northwest and west coastal areas. Roofs  being touted as the "The Last Urban Frontier." Yeah, well, when you overpopulated the world and pave everything green to make room, all we're going to be left with are rooftops and preserved land.

In a way, I think it's a good idea. Especially for businesses. It's a good way for them to give back a little of what they've taken. Some google'd images can be found here. I wonder what this does to the insect population in the average household with a green roof, and how many injuries are caused by trying to maintain one. I know I wouldn't want it on my roof. Maybe on a shed.

It's more expensive to do (of course) but there are many reasons why it's worth the costs. Among them, saving money on your heating/cooling bills, and extending the life of your roof. But you can do all that in a less costly manner by better insulating and sealing your current roof (or by making sure your contractor does). So basically, you kind of have to want to ("be green" and) do your part to save the environment (to do this to your own personal dwelling). Might also want to be sure you're not planning on moving anytime soon.

Ahh...but imagine taking your daily (ho hum) coffee breaks in the middle of what looks like the garden of Eden. Might reduce stress levels of those highstrung coworkers (and possibly increase absences due to allergies). Hm. I wonder if these will start showing up in my part of the world.
